Red Bull Are On A High At The Moment In The 2023 Season

The 2023 Formula One season has gotten off to a strong start for Red Bull thanks to world champion Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez and has been seen as the fastest car this season, and Lewis Hamilton has provided an honest assessment of Mercedes' chances of catching the leads before Sunday's Australian Grand Prix. The seven-time World Champion predicted that it would “It is going to take us the rest of the year, for sure, to potentially close that gap.”

For the second consecutive year, Hamilton has had a difficult start to the season. His Mercedes team is now in the process of rebuilding their F1 car to try being as competitive as possible, time will tell if they are successful, but something needs to be done.

Hamilton is convinced that Mercedes can replicate a challenging 2022, when they were initially far off the pace but eventually were able to compete through teammate George Russell towards the conclusion of the season last year, expecting to pick up the points as the season progresses as they did last year.

He recently talked about the issues he had with the new W14 car in the first two races and how the cockpit's location makes him uncomfortable.

He mentioned: "I don't know if people know, but we sit closer to the front wheels than all the other drivers. Our cockpit is too close to the front.”

"Some cars do plateau in terms of performance. At some point it can't just keep going. But maybe it can. They have a great team around them and I am sure they will continue to add downforce.”

"We just have to make sure when we do make the change hopefully the drop isn't too far and hopefully it is going to take us the rest of the year for sure to potentially close that gap."

Following Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez's one-two results in the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, Red Bull has experienced a strong start to the F1 season.

George Russell, the other main member of the team, has mentioned: "I am not going to say we are terribly optimistic. We recognise Red Bull are a second down the road at the moment."

Max Is He Unstoppable?

Verstappen is going for his third straight championship, while Red Bull is trying to win another constructors' championship.

In Jeddah at the Saudi Grand Prix, Perez took the pole position for the second time in his career. He feels that to have a chance of defeating Verstappen this season, he must stay focused and keep competing against the Dutch driver to try and win his first championship.

After third race of the season in Australia, Verstappen has acquired an early lead of 15 points over his team mate Perez in the standings, but the Mexican driver is "certain" that he can defeat his teammate to win his first world championship, this is looking out to be a good battle between the 2 of them, but the big question is can anyone following come through and challenge the Red Bulls after their great start, we hope so to make it a much more interesting season for all of us, Come on Ferrari, Aston Martin and Mercedes, let’s get going and make this the best season in a long time.
