Read on to learn everything you need to know about the upcoming 2022 Formula One Grand Prix season.

News on the Drivers: What To Know

There are some great drivers that will be competing in the F1 Grand Prix. The stars of last season were Lewis Hamilton and 2021 Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen. Hamilton will partner with George Russell, who is a new addition to the team, but one with a reputation for being intense.

Verstappen will pair with Sergio Perez. This is Perez's second season with Verstappen, so they may be more comfortable this time around.

Alex Albon, a 2020 standout, skipped the 2021 season. He's expected to return this year. He'll be leading the team for Williams.

There will also be a new rookie driver joining the fray this season. Zhou Guanyu will be the first Chinese full-time Formula One racer, in his first season. Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher are both in their second season with F1, as is Yuki Tsunoda.

Learn About the Cars

What's a Formula One race without cool cars? Ferrari, Aston Martin, Alfa Romeo, and McLaren are among the teams participating.

And, there have been changes made to the car regulations. The required wheel size has been raised to eighteen inches.

Cars are also required to have strakes over their front wheels and tunnels under the cars to increase their aerodynamics. The minimum weight of all cars has also increased.

Car suspensions are only allowed to contain dampers and springs, while heave springs are now banned from use. Car wing design rules have been changed to allow the drivers to follow each other more easily.

Tracks and Rules

The record number of races planned mean there is also a record number of tracks being used during one season. Two races will be held in the United States, including the first-ever race held in Miami, Florida.

The Canadian Grand Prix will take place in June, in Montreal. Mexico City's race will happen at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, on October 30th, while Singapore's race earlier in the month, COVID-19 permitting, will run at Marina Bay. The final race of the season will occur in November, in Abu Dhabi

There have been new rules introduced, too. The qualifying race rules have changed, so that the first finisher in the sprint qualifier will start in the pole position. Plus, the budget cap shrunk to 140 million dollars, so teams will have to get more creative with their money.
